The need to prepare for the purchase of a washing machine is obvious – this is an expensive investment, which should serve for years. It is advisable to set your own expectations from the beginning, which will narrow down the field of our search. What else to remember?

Built-in washing machine

This type of washing machine is an alternative that should be planned appropriately everywhere. These are front-loading appliances, especially those that can be hidden under the countertop. It’s a good choice for the kitchen when you have limited space in the bathroom or want to plan it differently. Unfortunately, built-in washing machines are much more expensive

Freestanding washing machine

In this class, the choice of washing machines will be the largest. Their appearance is so aesthetically pleasing that they will not in any way with their design deviate from the overall decor. Their advantage is versatility and the ability to choose different settings

How large a washing machine load is needed?

The choice depends on the number of people who make up the household. Different needs will be for a single person, while others for a large family with many children. What parameters should be recommended? For a single person, a good option is to choose a capacity of 4 or 4.5 kilograms. For a family of up to 4 people, you should choose 6 or 6.5 kg. A larger option is a washing machine with a load of 7-8 kg, which can be designed for a larger family. Washing machines of 9 kg are already much more expensive

What type of washing machine load?

There are two main types of washing machines when it comes to loading

  • top-loading washing machine: with a width of 40 cm, thanks to them you can significantly reduce the space occupied by the washing machine in the bathroom
  • bottom-loaded washing machine: the most popular type of washing machine – more than 800 models are available on the market, so you get the greatest diversity of additional functions and parameters

Spinning

The spin speed of a washing machine is an important parameter, which is important in terms of value for money. In short: the higher the number of revolutions per minute, the drier the clothes, but also the more expensive the product. However, higher spin speed is often accompanied by more creases in the clothes and noisier running of the washing machine

Optimum spin rate

In a situation where we have washing machines on the market with revolutions between 800-1500 per minute, it is worth opting for an intermediate option. Approx. 1000 revolutions per minute with adjustable spinning speed should meet the expectations of most users

Washing machine motor

The choice of motor is very important because of the life expectancy of the washing machine. We can choose between brush and brushless motors, or inverter motors. Their durability is already evidenced by the warranty given by manufacturers: the inverter motors are given even several times longer warranty.

Washing machine ergonomics

The cost of a washing machine must be counted not only in a one-time expense for the purchase of the device, but also in the long term. Then the ergonomics of its use comes to the fore.

Energy class

It is essential to choose a washing machine in energy class A among seven possible grades to choose from. This will allow you to save money spent on electricity. The principle is simple – the greater the number of pluses next to the letter A, the greater the savings on bills. Unfortunately, we will pay more for class A++. So when is such a choice optimal? When we treat it as a long-term investment. With time a bigger one-time expenditure will pay off

Noise level

The operation of a washing machine at home can cause a very high noise level. The range between this kind of annoyance for individual models is large – from 46 to 77 decibels, which increases even during spinning

Water consumption

Older production models were particularly inefficient when it came to water consumption. Some models used as much as a three-digit amount of water per wash cycle. Nowadays, the savings are even more than doubled, which translates into the cost of using the appliance, especially in the long term
